We met up with John and Jillian in Blacksburg, VA for their engagement session since Virginia Tech is their alma mater and holds such value to each of them.  They also met here and dated here.  So much of their story is wrapped up around this special place, and going around campus, we heard stories about their meeting, re-meeting, and their time together dating there.  Getting them in their element, they had home field advantage.  They felt at home here, and it seemed to set up more of a date than a photo session.  Because, you know, Virginia is for lovers.

Not only was the setting sentimental and romantic, these two genuinely kept us laughing the whole time we were with them.  They keep each other on their toes–playing, flirting, dancing, tickling, poking fun–and it was up to us just to keep up and capture all this happiness.  At the intersection of romance and laughter, these two set up a picnic complete with champagne, and we caught one of the funniest sequences we’ve ever seen.  It’s enough to make us want to get in the flip book business.

We asked John and Jillian to share a little about each other, and their responses were spot on.

John says about Jillian:

I love her unwavering loyalty. Every day she is an ambitious, active individual who plans and coordinates to get things done. When I am feeling down or lazy, she is always there to be a source of encouragement and motivation. Even when I am being grumpy (and usually uncooperative), she never hesitates to reach out to me to make sure I don’t lose sight of what’s coming next. She is also exceptionally dependable and patient. I can always count on Jillian to be there for me on both my greatest and worst days.

…and Jillian on John:

John is my rock. He is my source of calm and peace in the world. He reminds me to live life to the fullest and he always allows me to look at the glass half full. Besides being extremely handsome, John has an amazing sense of humor that can captivate an audience. Although brilliant and technical (and okay sometimes nerdy), John can still hold a conversation with anyone at anytime. The guy just makes me happy every day and we look forward to years and years of more happiness!
