January weddings have such a sweet, romantic peace about them.  We may be partial to winter weddings since ours was in December, but every time we photograph one, we wish we had more!  Ana and Greg’s wedding at St. Mary’s Chapel in uptown Charlotte is the perfect example of that intimate, sweet spirit that the season set up for them.  Just look at these expressions….the glances Ana and Greg shared warmed up a winter’s day, for sure. 😉

Congratulations Ana and Greg!

Kristyn and Kevin’s wedding at the Dairy Barn in Fort Mill, SC was one of those for us that we’ve been counting down the days right along with them!  These friends and clients hold a special place in our heart, and we knew this wedding would not only be gorgeous, but also personal, and downright fun, with a sweet and easy spirit.  We were right.

The ceremony took place inside the Dairy Barn, just as the sun had set, and the lighting was beautiful.  They incorporated so many personal details that served to tell their story as guests mixed and mingled. The wedding and the couple themselves were total eye candy, but they are just as sweet, too.

Congratulations, Kevin and Kristyn!  We love you!

David and Ellen’s wedding at the The Creek Club at I’On in Mt. Pleasant, SC is about as dreamy as it gets.

The ceremony was held at Ellen’s home church, Hibben United Methodist Church in Mt. Pleasant. After they were dressed, we met them for the first look at the club where preparations were being made for the reception.  Their excitement in this moment was about as adorable as we’ve ever seen.  For times like this, we get so caught up in the moment ourselves that we have to chant “just keep shooting…!”  Just look at these sweet expressions.

The rest of the day followed suit, and their families and guests just reflected back all this love and joy we saw from the beginning of the day.

David and Ellen, we couldn’t be more proud of and happy for you two.  As wonderful of a day as your wedding was, we know it’s only the beginning of even better and sweeter days to come.  We love you both!  –Stephen and CJ

Jon and Melanie’s wedding at Chetola Resort at Blowing Rock, NC is one of those for us that’s total eye candy.  Peak season in the North Carolina mountains, blue sky, crisp air, a gorgeous venue, and a couple that’s simply beautiful inside and out.  Their first look made everybody teary, and what we didn’t show in the blog were the bridesmaids peeking out the window across the parking lot to they could catch a glimpse of this sweet moment.  The reception too had some once-in-a-lifetime moments, from Jon and Melanie’s choreographed first dance which totally brought the house down, to Jon’s son being elated over catching the garter.

Jon and Melanie, stay as full of joy and love as you were on your wedding.  You two and your love make the world a more beautiful place.  Thank you for letting us photograph your special day!

If any two people can enhance Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden in Belmont, NC, it’s these two.  Maggie and Neil are planning their wedding next May at this beautiful place, and it was great for us to catch up with them there for the engagement session.  They have a great chemistry that was easy and fun to photograph.  They are lighthearted, easygoing, and just enough competitive to add spice.

Maggie says she and Neil met through her then-roommate, Carolyn who had recently started dating John, a friend of Neil’s.  Maggie says:

“Depending who you ask, our meeting and getting to know each other either happened organically or was all part of their master plan. The first time we met was at a party at my apartment; I noted his remarkably loud and enthusiastic participation in party games. The second time we met was playing grass volleyball; I noted that he made good cheeseburgers (also, his abs). We eventually hit it off over Long Island Iced Teas on a quasi-engineered double date one night and starting dating. Neil would say that he beat me at quarters at that first party and that I was late to our first “real” date (at a sushi restaurant); I wholeheartedly disagree on both counts.” 🙂

Late or not, Neil is pretty smitten with Maggie (as evidenced in the photos!) He says, “Maggie is an amazing person. She is smart, athletic, driven and funny. She is always there when I need her and makes me laugh when I’m having an off day. Maggie always has time to listen and helps in any way she can. She loves adventure and is my favorite travel partner. There is no one else I would rather experience something new with than her.”  Maggie also told us about Neil, and she says he “is incredibly warm and genuine. His sense of humor and approachability make him immediately relatable – he definitely doesn’t have any trouble making friends! Even early on in our relationship, I always felt completely comfortable with him. He is a wonderful partner in every sense (including when we play doubles tennis) – he’s endlessly supportive and there’s never any doubt that he’s 100% on my side. I love his sense of adventure and willingness to try new things – he makes even the most everyday activities fun and memorable. And he gives what I firmly believe are the best hugs in the world.”

These two are off to a great, romantic, and happy start.  Congratulations, Maggie and Neil!
